Couplehood As A Spiritual Path

This is a new program that will be offered during the spring of 2009

Presented at All Saints Church, 132 N. Euclid Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91101

Phone: 626-796-1172

         You may have had the sense that your couplehood is more about growth and healing than just romantic feelings, but yet have not known how to fully move in that direction.  We fall in love and get married and then all the unfinished business that we bring into the relationship starts to emerge.  Not knowing how to deal with it, we often argue and fight and feel disconnected.  But we know we want to stay together, we are committed to each other, and in some way we feel unsure of what to do.  If so, this series is just for you.  It’s about Couplehood as a Spiritual Path and Dialogue as a Spiritual Practice.

         This six week program is an educational adaptation of the book, “Getting the Love You Want: A Guide for Couples” by Harville Hendrix, which has sold over two million copies and is translated in 50 languages.  It will be offered in January, February and March 2009 on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm with a kick-off on Sunday morning in the Guild Room January 18, 2009 with Harville Hendrix.

Harville Hendrix, Ph.D. and his wife Helen LaKelly Hunt, Ph.D. who developed Imago Relationship Therapy, have created this course especially for churches.  The cost to each couple is $41 for two comprehensive manuals, a copy of Harville Hendrix' best selling book Getting The Love You Want and a DVD.  If you are interested in the course, come Sunday, January 18, 2009 to the Guild Room for the introduction session and registration.  Come even if you cannot attend the classes.  You will be inspired.

 What Is It About?

It's about learning a powerful skill that will radically transform your relationship into a conscious one.  It is also about establishing an ongoing program for couples in the church.  Couples who take the course and would like to teach it again in their homes to other couples are encouraged to think in that direction.  Bruce and Francine will remain as consultants for the ongoing program.

It's about using the skills to:

•   Improve your relationship with your partner;

•   Dissolve long-standing conflicts;

•   Use your relationship to heal childhood wounds;

•   Use your relationship to grow into your full potential;

•   Deepen connection and intimacy.

It's About:

•   Transforming the "space between" into safety and passion.

•   Experiencing the "space between" as sacred space.

•   Using your relationship to grow spiritually.

•   Creating a better society through conscious couplehood partnership.

Who Is It For?

If you are a COUPLE, straight or gay, it is for you.

The course is open to all couples who are interested in improving the quality of their relationship.

How Long Is It And When?

The course starts on Sunday morning January 18, 2009 in the Guild Room.  This will be an introductory session to allow all who might be interested to attend and decide if they want to sign up for the eight week two-hour classes.  Come even if you can’t do the course.  You will be inspired.  The six Monday classes will be January 26, November 2, 9, 16, 23, & March 2 from 7 to 9 pm.
